RETAIL TRADE

Retail trade is a trade that sells goods and services to the public. The main indicator of the activities of trading enterprises and organizations is the retail trade turnover.

Retail trade turnover - revenue from goods sold to population for own consumption or for other use in household for paid by cash or credit cards, by bank checks, from bank accounts of individuals by bank transfer or by payment cards.

Retail trade turnover includes data both on organizations for which this activity is the main one, and on organizations of other types of activities that sell goods to the population through their own trading establishments, or with payment through their cash desk.

Retail turnover also includes the value of goods sold to population by individual entrepreneurs and individuals in retail markets and fairs.

Data on retail trade turnover are calculated at current selling prices, including the trade margin and product taxes (value added taxes, an excise, a tax on sales). In the retail trade turnover does not include the turnover of catering enterprises.

The turnover of catering enterprises is the proceeds from the sale of their own culinary products (dishes, culinary products, semi-finished products) and purchased goods without culinary processing to the population for consumption, mainly on the spot, as well as to legal entities and individual entrepreneurs for catering to various population groups. Data on the turnover of catering enterprises should be calculated in actual selling prices, including the margin of catering enterprises, value added tax and similar obligatory payments.

PAID SERVICES TO THE POPULATION

Paid services to the population are useful results of production activities that satisfy certain needs of citizens for a fee, but do not translate into material form. They are the object of purchase and sale and are sold at prices that fully or substantially cover the costs of the manufacturer (from sales proceeds) and provide him with profit.

Paid services to the population can be provided by enterprises (organizations) of all organizational and legal forms and forms of ownership by individual orders, as well as individuals (citizens engaged in entrepreneurial activity without forming a legal entity).

The main statistical indicator that measures the amount of paid services rendered to the population over a certain period of time is the cost indicator “Volume of paid services to the population”. It reflects the revenue (gross income) of service producers in the amount of funds received either directly from the citizens to whom the services were provided or from enterprises (organizations) in payment for the services rendered to their employees.

Paid services to the population include: everyday services, transport services, communications, housing and public utilities, culture, tourism, physical culture and sports, medical, sanatoria and health services, legal services, services of an education system and others.
