March 3-6, 2026, 57th session of the UN Statistical Commission

The 57th session of the UN Statistical Commission was held on March 3–6, 2026.

More than 240 delegations from national statistical services and international organizations working in the field of statistics were invited to participate in this event. The session was attended by Mr. K.E. Laykam, Chairman of the CIS Statistical Committee, and Mr. A.E. Kosarev, Deputy Chairman.

The session included a detailed discussion of key areas of contemporary economic, socio-demographic, and environmental statistics, national accounts, agricultural and rural statistics, business and trade statistics, business registers and service statistics, well-being measurement, demographic and housing statistics, health statistics, environmental and economic accounting, environment and climate change statistics, ageing-related statistics and age-disaggregated data, data and indicators for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, data stewardship, and a number of other relevant topics.

Representatives of the CIS Statistical Committee actively participated in the discussion and shared the CIS Statistical Committee's knowledge and best practices in the discussed areas of statistics. Representatives of the CIS-STAT also participated in a number of international meetings held during the session. In particular, various issues of coordinating work in the field of international statistics were discussed at a meeting of the UN Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities (CCSA) which unites 45 international statistical organizations; representatives of the CIS-STAT presented a report on the implementation of the Global Program for International Comparisons (Global ICP) in the CIS region and took part in a discussion of the progress and prospects for the implementation of the 2024 Global ICP at a meeting of the Governing Council of the Global Program for International Comparisons Based on Purchasing Power Parity. During the session, representatives of the CIS-STAT also participated in a number of thematic meetings, in particular, a meeting on the implementation of the SNA 2025 and a meeting on the preparation and conduct of agricultural censuses.

During the session of the UN Statistical Commission, working meetings were held with the representatives of the national statistical services of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Argentina, Brazil, Hungary, Mongolia, UAE, Serbia, Turkey, South Africa and several other countries, as well as statistical services of the leading international organizations, including the UN, UNECE, ESCAP, ESCWA, World Bank, IMF, ILO, FAO, OECD, Eurostat, and Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
